Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science is located in the Watts-Willowbrook area of south Los Angeles and was founded in 1966 in response to inadequate medical care in the region. CDU provides equitable medical education opportunities for under-represented students and leads multiple partnerships to provide healthcare resources in south Los Angeles neighborhoods.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee clinical placement, student recruitment, registration, progression, and FNP program completion
  • Assist with student advisement, coordinate matters regarding a student’s progress in the program, and student discipline
  • Arrange clinical placements
  • Develop and implement strategies to support student recruitment, enrollment growth, retention, progression, and on-time program completion
  • Maintain compliance with California Board of Registered Nursing Clinical Practice guidelines
  • Ensure sufficient, diverse, and appropriate clinical placements
  • Coordinate and ensure completion of annual updates of faculty and student handbooks related to the FNP program
  • Coordinate the annual evaluation of FNP faculty
  • Evaluate enrollment, retention, graduation, certification, and other key performance indicators for continuous program improvement
  • Develop and implement annual program goals related to growth, retention, student success, and academic quality
  • Recommend and support initiatives that strengthen program visibility, competitiveness, and long-term sustainability
  • Represent the Nursing Program and promote positive relationships with clinical agency personnel and other departments on campus
  • Attend professional nursing and community meetings
  • Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and student support services to promote student engagement, academic achievement, and retention throughout the program lifecycle
  • Ensure equitable and compliant evaluation processes
  • Ensure compliance with California Board of Registered Nursing Clinical Practice guidelines
  • Monitor student persistence, academic progress, and attrition trends; identify barriers and implement interventions to improve retention and student success
  • Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and student support services to promote student engagement, academic achievement, and retention throughout the program lifecycle
  • Ensure equitable and compliant evaluation processes

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing with preparation as a FNP required
  • Two years teaching in pre- or post-licensure nursing program and one year as a registered nurse providing direct patient care
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in California or eligible for California RN licensure
  • National current certification as a FNP and eligible for certification as a nurse practitioner with the California Board of Registered Nursing

Benefits

Full Time Salary: Assistant Professor $115,000 + Administrative Y-factor $20,000 = $135,000
