About the role
The Department of Statistics and Data Science at Northwestern University invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor position. Primary duties include conducting research, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics and data science, advising and mentoring students, and providing service to the department, the college, and the university.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Research areas in machine learning, modern causal inference, and other emerging topics in data science/AI
- Exceptional candidates in any area of statistics and data science will be considered
Review of applications will begin on October 1, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled. Appointments are expected to start in September 2027.
Pay
The expected base pay range for this position is $115,000 - $150,000 for a nine-month academic appointment. This range does not include summer salary and is subject to negotiation. The pay offered will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, years since terminal degree, training, field or discipline, departmental budget availability, internal comparators, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
