About the role

The Department of Statistical Sciences at Wake Forest University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Statistics. This position begins July 1, 2027.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in Statistics or Biostatistics at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Initiate and sustain original research and scholarship in their area(s) of expertise.
• Mentor students in research.
• Support the Wake Forest University mission through service to the department, the College of Liberal Arts, and the university.

Requirements

• An earned Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field is required.
• ABD candidates are invited to apply.
• Demonstrate ability to teach courses in Statistics or Biostatistics.
• Initiate and sustain original research and scholarship in their area(s) of expertise.
• Contribute to an academic environment that fosters learning and growth for all its stakeholders.

• a CV;
• a teaching statement that describes the applicant’s approach to teaching students across a wide and varied spectrum of values, identities, skills, and professional ambitions, as well as their experience leading undergraduate or graduate courses and any future teaching interests;
• a research statement that describes the applicant’s research agenda, particularly in the context of the current state of the discipline;
• a copy of all graduate transcripts;
• three letters of recommendation. At least two of the letters of recommendation should address the scholarship and/or scholarship potential of the applicant; at least one of the letters of recommendation should address the teaching ability of the applicant.
