About the role
This is a faculty position responsible to the Chair of the Department of Hospital Medicine who reports to the Head of the Division of Internal Medicine.
Responsibilities
- Focusing the majority of clinical activity in the Inpatient Service
- Possessing strong communication skills to interact with patients, family members, hospital staff, and other faculty members
- Providing clinical expertise in patient care management and teaching environment for fellows, residents, and students in Onco-Hospital Medicine
- Participating in the development of clinical research studies and being independently responsible for new patient evaluations, referrals, and follow-up
- Engaging in administrative duties such as serving on institutional and hospital committees
- Providing education and teaching in internal medicine for medical residents and students
- Engaging in research activities to enhance the academic environment of the Department
- Performing clinical procedures relevant to delivering standard care to the patient
- Representing the Department of Hospital Medicine in local, regional, state, and national matters related to Onco-Hospitalist Medicine
- Practicing clinical medicine in accordance with the standards set forth by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and the American College of Physicians
Requirements
- Completed M.D. degree in an accredited medical school or equivalent
- Residency training in an approved American Residency Program or equivalent
- Made application and been accepted by the American Board of Internal Medicine
- Licensed as a physician in the State of Texas
- Board certified in Internal Medicine or obtain board certification within 3 years of employment
- A minimum of 2 years as an Instructor or 5 years post-degree with any combination of time as a clinician, clinical scientist, or GME Trainee (except specialties with shorter residencies or fellowships)
Qualifications
- Target base salary of $268,953 to $306,173
