About the role

Provide instruction, advisement, evaluation of student performance, and supervision to Physician Assistant (PA) students that culminate in the fulfillment of programmatic competencies. Participate in the design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the PA curriculum and program. Support and propagate the mission of the College of Health Sciences and the institution.

Pay

In compliance with SB 1162, the pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries. Within this range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. The compensation details listed reflect base salary only.

  • Minimum: $120,000.00 Annually
  • Maximum: $120,000.00 Annually

Responsibilities

  • Assist and actively contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the PA curriculum and program.
  • Collaborate in the review and revision of program mission, goals, and competencies as needed.
  • Support the PA program in maintaining compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate instructional methodologies for achieving course learning outcomes.
  • Responsible for content creation and delivery of prescribed curriculum, and course management.
  • Develop and implement methods for student evaluation and remediation.
  • Evaluate student performance and ensure the availability of remedial instruction.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate student records.
  • Facilitate program workshops, OSCEs, and skills training sessions for the didactic and clinical phases of the curriculum.
  • Advise and mentor students regarding academic progress and refer as appropriate for academic and/or personal support.
  • Participate in applicant interviews and the selection of applicants for admission to the program.
  • Participate in departmental recruitment and hiring activities.
  • Contribute service to the program, college, university, community, and profession.
  • Participate in and develop scholarly activities consistent with the rank of assistant professor.
  • Participate routinely in professional development activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Opportunities exist for release time to engage in clinical practice within the PA’s area of expertise.

Requirements

  • Active California Physician Assistant License.
  • Active NCCPA Certification.
  • 2 years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant.

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the laws and regulations relating to the practice of a Physician Assistant.
  • Knowledge of the skills and tasks that are performed by a primary care Physician Assistant.

Skills

  • Effective skills in oral and written communication.

Abilities

  • Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior teaching experience preferred but not required.
