About the role

The Department of Exercise & Sport Science at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse is seeking applicants for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a start date of August 23, 2027, with potential for an early start in January 2027. We encourage applications from candidates with expertise in Athletic Training and Kinesiology/Exercise Science.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses and advise students.
  • Maintain currency in the content area, evaluate student work, assess outcomes, provide substantive feedback, maintain records, and hold office hours.
  • Develop and sustain an active program of scholarship appropriate to the discipline.
  • Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and/or professional organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the chair or dean.

About the College of Science & Health

The College of Science & Health is the largest academic unit at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, uniting diverse disciplines across the natural, physical, computational, and health sciences. It comprises 11 departments and nationally recognized professional programs, emphasizing faculty mentorship, hands-on undergraduate research, and graduate education. Qualifications

  • Required: Doctorate in athletic training, sports medicine, or kinesiology/exercise science (or related field), earned by the end of the first academic year.
  • Evidence of effective instruction and clear, effective communication skills.
  • Current BOC certification, Wisconsin licensure (or eligible), and an NPI number.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching and administrative experience in a CAATE-accredited program.
  • Interest or experience in serving as Director of Clinical Education.
  • University-level teaching experience in athletic training and kinesiology/exercise science, including rehabilitation and emergency care.
  • Evidence of an emerging or established research agenda related to athletic training and kinesiology/exercise science.
