Assistant Professor

Job Purpose

The Department of Computer Science seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in AI, machine learning, and data science. Candidates will contribute to curriculum development, research, and student mentoring.

Computer Science Essential Functions

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, primarily in AI, machine learning, and data science.
• Develop and enhance curriculum related to computer science pedagogy.
• Conduct and publish research; pursue external funding.
• Direct student projects and research at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.

Science Advising

Advise students on professional development and career opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctorate in Computer Science, AI, data science, or closely related field from an accredited institution by start date.
• Demonstrated ability and desire for teaching excellence in AI and data science.
• Potential for externally funded research.
• Scholarly activity as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in AI and data science.
• Relevant teaching experience in AI, machine learning, or data science.
• Experience with AI/data science tools development, deployment, and management.
• Industry experience in AI or data science applications.

Work Hours & Benefits

Full-time, nine-month tenure-track schedule. Benefits include: one sick day per month and thirteen university holidays, medical and life insurance (shared cost), retirement plans, optional 401(k), educational benefits, deferred income and benefits over 12 months.
