Job Summary The Department of Public Affairs and Planning in the College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs ( CAPPA ), at the University of Texas at Arlington, invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) specializing in public policy or a related research area. We seek a candidate with strong research skills, capable of engaging in interdisciplinary work, successfully pursuing external research funding, and publishing in high-quality academic outlets. The candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching policy and public administration courses in support of our degree programs. We welcome applicants with a Ph.D. and research expertise in public policy or a related social science discipline. Required Qualifications A Ph.D. in public policy, public administration, public affairs, or other closely related field ( ABD candidates will be considered, but the degree must be awarded by the time of appointment).Demonstrated ability to engage in high-quality research related to public policy or a related field. The candidate should have a record of, or demonstrated potential for, successful research and publication.Demonstrated excellence, or clear evidence of potential for excellence, in teaching and mentorship. Preferred Qualifications Ability to engage in high-quality interdisciplinary researchA record of, or demonstrated potential for, publishing in top-tier journals or academic presses.Demonstrated ability, or clear evidence of potential, to teach courses on economic policy. Essential Duties And Responsibilities We seek an innovative scholar whose research focuses on public policy. Example areas of specialization within the policy sciences include, but are not limited to: urban studies, public health, public infrastructure, organizational studies, energy & environment, education, and the policy process. Candidates with established research programs outside of these areas should still apply. In alignment with UTA’s status as an R1 research university, the ideal candidate should have an established research portfolio and demonstrated potential to secure appropriate external funding. We are especially seeking candidates who demonstrate strong potential for interdisciplinary collaboration, program development, and community engagement who can build on existing strengths of the College and wide University. As part of their responsibilities, the eventual hire will: Develop and maintain a productive research program with a strong record of academic output/publication.Pursue external grants and research sponsorships.Develop and teach courses (in person and online) on topics related to public policy and administration, including a course on economic policy.Supervise and mentor doctoral students.Participate in service within the Department, College, University, and broader academic community.
