Assistant Professor

About the role

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Weber State University invites applications for one of two tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2023. We seek a person committed to undergraduate physics teaching with research experience in theoretical or computational methods and the application of those to physics and/or interdisciplinary problems.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate physics courses
• Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative teaching methods
• Develop and maintain a strong research program
• Engage in service activities within the department, college, and university

Requirements

• PhD in Physics or a related field by the start date
• Strong record of research in theoretical or computational methods applied to physics and/or interdisciplinary problems
• Excellent teaching skills with a commitment to undergraduate education
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Qualifications

• Research experience in theoretical or computational methods applied to physics and/or interdisciplinary problems
• Experience in undergraduate teaching and curriculum development
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Knowledge of current pedagogical techniques and technologies
