Assistant Professor

About the role

The Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Denver (DU) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin in September of 2024. They seek candidates with research interests in experimental condensed matter physics whose research and teaching will support an initiative in Quantum Materials and Information Science, which launched with one faculty member already hired in 2022.

Responsibilities

• Conduct innovative research in experimental condensed matter physics, contributing to the Quantum Materials and Information Science initiative.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in physics and related areas.
• Participate in departmental and university committees and initiatives.
• Secure external funding for research projects.

Requirements

• A PhD in Physics or a closely related field.
• Strong record of research in experimental condensed matter physics.
• Excellent communication and teaching skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative academic environment.
