About the role
The Education Department is currently seeking a qualified Assistant Professor to serve as a tenure track, nine-month faculty member in Education with an endorsement in Special Education or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver curriculum that aligns with current research and best practices in Elementary/Secondary Education and Special Education.
- Demonstrate commitment to professional growth, development, advisement, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
- Conduct and publish research in areas related to Elementary/Secondary Education and Special Education.
- Pursue external funding opportunities to support research and program development.
- Participate in departmental and university committees and service activities.
- Stay current with trends and legislation affecting Elementary/Secondary Education and Special Education.
- Respond to the needs of students using a variety of teaching methods including new technologies.
Requirements
- An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Education or Special Education or a closely related field by the start of the appointment.
- Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered.
- The Candidate must possess at least three years of extensive teaching experience in Education and/or Special Education setting and demonstrate empathy and a passionate commitment for inclusive education.
- Possess effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
- Be knowledgeable of laws and regulations related to the field of Education and Special Education.
- Develop, teach, and update undergraduate or graduate level courses related to Elementary/Secondary Education and Special Education.
- Stay updated on latest and current trends, research, and best practices in Elementary/Secondary Education and Special Education to ensure teaching and research are aligned with the most effective instructional methods.
- Experience working with K-12 schools or special education programs.
- Able to teach both online and face-to-face courses.
