McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure clinical track at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Children's Heart Institute.
About the role
The Children’s Heart Institute (CHI) is seeking a pediatric cardiologist to join a rapidly expanding, diverse, and internationally recognized team. CHI provides comprehensive cardiac care for children and adults with congenital heart defects, including acute care, fetal, cardiac MR/CT, interventional, electrophysiology, heart failure, transplant, pulmonary hypertension, exercise physiology, preventive, and community cardiology services. The team includes 25 cardiologists and 3 dedicated congenital heart surgeons.
The hospital features a 20-bed dedicated cardiac ICU, 20 intermediate care beds, and a 120-bed NICU. Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital is ranked in the top 20 pediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery programs in the 2025-2026 US News & World Report. The program also offers a robust general pediatric cardiology fellowship with advanced fellowships in fetal, CT/MRI, and CICU.
Candidates with experience will be preferred, though graduating fellows are encouraged to apply. The selected candidate will contribute to the department's mission of educating health science professionals, advancing biomedical and social sciences, and modeling best practices in clinical care and public health.
Responsibilities
- Actively participate in patient care to ensure the highest quality of care and patient outcomes in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Work with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including nurses, technologists, and support staff.
- Collaborate with other cardiology subspecialties, surgeons, and referring physicians to optimize patient care and outcomes.
- Teach and mentor fellows, residents, medical students, and advanced care practitioners.
- Participate in clinical or basic science research and/or other scholarly activities.
Requirements
- MD/DO degree, or equivalent.
- Board certified or eligible in Pediatrics, or equivalent.
- Board certified or eligible in Pediatric Cardiology, or equivalent.
- Texas Medical License or eligibility for a Texas Faculty Temporary License.
