Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Psychology

About the role

The Department of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison invites applications for an open-rank faculty position in social psychology. Appointments may be made at the Assistant Professor (tenure-track), Associate Professor (tenured), or Full Professor (tenured) level, commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and scholarly record. We welcome applicants from any sub-field of social psychology.

The successful candidate will contribute to the educational mission of the College of Letters & Science by advancing evidence-based, student-centered teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate level. They will foster an inclusive environment that supports engagement and belonging for faculty, staff, students, and the broader community. Participation in the Excellence in Mentoring Initiative may be available for candidates who demonstrate excellence or strong potential in research and teaching, along with a commitment to mentoring underprepared or under-resourced students to promote their academic success at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.

The Department of Psychology is a multidisciplinary, highly collaborative unit and is consistently rated among the leaders in its field. Responsibilities

• Develop and/or maintain a productive, externally recognized research program
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in social psychology and related areas
• Supervise master’s and doctoral students
• Provide service to the department, college, university, and broader academic community

Requirements

• PhD in Psychology or a closely related field by the start of the appointment
• Evidence of creativity and excellence in teaching and scholarly research
• Demonstrated ability and commitment to mentor at-risk, first-generation, or underrepresented undergraduate or graduate students toward academic success
