Assistant Professor Anatomy
About the role
DMU is seeking an Anatomy Faculty Member who is passionate about teaching, discovery, and service.
Responsibilities
- Teach and/or coordinate courses within the prescribed curriculum, including engaging classroom and gross anatomy laboratory instruction
- Facilitate active learning through small-group experiences such as problem-based and case-based sessions
- Support student success through mentoring, advising, and maintaining regular office hours
- Design and implement effective instructional strategies, assessments, and innovative teaching approaches
- Develop and sustain an independent, externally funded research program
- Prepare and submit grant proposals and disseminate research through peer-reviewed publications
- Pursue ongoing professional development to stay at the forefront of anatomical sciences
- Actively contribute to departmental, university, and professional service, including governance and committee work
- Engage in community outreach and service initiatives that reflect DMU’s mission
Requirements
- Earned doctoral degree (or willingness to complete one within an agreed timeframe)
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Proficiency with computer applications and the ability to integrate technology into teaching
- Commitment to and alignment with DMU’s mission and values
Preferred qualifications
- Demonstrated teaching experience in anatomical sciences
- A record of—or strong potential for—developing an externally funded research program
- Evidence of scholarly activity, including publications
- Ability or willingness to teach histology and/or neuroanatomy topics
