Assistant Production Manager - Dairy

About the Role

Plan, organize, and direct production personnel in all phases of the production process to ensure the facility operates efficiently. Ensure products manufactured conform to Shamrock-defined product quality standards, as well as Federal, State, and local standards for product identity, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Responsibilities

• Oversee production to maintain efficiencies and bottles per minute, including assisting with changeovers and shift changes.
• Monitor and manage employee work schedules and coordinate breaks.
• Work closely with mechanics to minimize downtime by scheduling special assignments, assisting during breakdowns, and proactively managing preventive maintenance (PMs).
• Provide employee feedback via performance evaluations, mentor direct reports, identify strengths and weaknesses, and manage resources accordingly.
• Plan, communicate, and monitor raw material needs based on production demand.
• Ensure proper GMP and housekeeping procedures are followed plant-wide, as outlined by the Shamrock Quality Department, and prepare the plant for inspections from USDA, vendors, internal, and external customers.
• Develop and maintain plant safety awareness.
• Monitor adherence to a master sanitation program and ensure tasks are completed.
• Assist in developing standard operating procedures for production duties and lead meetings when assigned.
• Work with department heads to ensure rework is consumed in a timely manner.
• Support the company’s operational priorities (UTR) by improving Quality, Safety, Waste Reduction, Productivity, and 5S. Use company-issued tools to complete assigned projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 4+ years of production and operations leadership experience.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Good computer skills, including MS Office experience.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of associates and teams.
• Continued training/experience in 5S, Lean, or World Class Manufacturing preferred.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

• Regularly required to stand; reach and handle objects, tools, or controls; and communicate.
• Frequently required to walk.
• Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include observing surroundings, objects, and labels at both close and far distances.
