Assistant Production Manager

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily production operations to ensure schedules, labor targets, and quality standards are consistently achieved.
  • Lead production personnel through scheduling, training, onboarding, accountability, and performance management.
  • Maintain accurate production, maintenance, and operational documentation.
  • Support cross-functional operational needs as required to maintain production flow and customer fulfillment timelines.
  • Monitor labor efficiency metrics, including productivity, overtime, downtime, personnel levels, schedule adherence, and first-pass yield.
  • Track and report production KPIs while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize labor utilization.
  • Lead hands-on troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and in-house repairs of production equipment and machinery whenever possible.
  • Coordinate outside repairs, maintenance schedules, spare parts inventory, and vendor support when necessary.
  • Monitor equipment performance and proactively address recurring mechanical or operational issues.
  • Support Lean manufacturing, 5S initiatives, SOP development, and continuous improvement efforts throughout the department.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, safety policies, and OSHA regulations.
  • Lead troubleshooting and corrective actions related to production defects, equipment failures, and operational inefficiencies.
  • Support new product launches, workflow updates, and operational testing as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years minimum experience supervising or managing teams in a manufacturing, production, or operations environment.
  • 5–7 years of experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial operations.
  • Strong understanding of production workflows, labor management, quality control, and workplace safety standards.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial equipment and production machinery.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform in-house equipment repairs whenever possible.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S practices, process improvement, and SOP development preferred.
  • Skilled in KPI tracking, reporting, and production data analysis.
  • Proficient with computer software and production-related systems.
  • Preferred: Experience with Adobe Acrobat.
  • Familiarity with personalization programs such as Adobe Illustrator or JobControl is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
