About the role
We are a fast-paced chemical handling facility that supports industries like water treatment, mining, oil & gas, and manufacturing. Our Assistant Production Manager will play a crucial role in supporting daily facility operations, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day operations across the full life cycle of products, including blending, loading, unloading, staging, and transferring chemicals in totes, tankers, drums, and other containers.
- Supervise and coordinate labor crews, ensuring tasks are completed safely, on time, and according to company procedures.
- Aid in scheduling daily manpower and managing shift tasks to meet operational goals.
- Provide shift flexibility, including weekends, nights, holidays, on-call rotations, and multi-shift support, to maintain continuous and safe production and delivery operations.
- Maintain workplace safety by monitoring equipment and work areas, identifying potential hazards or maintenance issues, and reporting them promptly.
- Communicate with drivers, loaders, and logistics staff to ensure chemical shipments are handled efficiently and accurately.
- Support inventory tracking by helping manage incoming and outgoing containers and verifying proper labeling and documentation.
- Onboard and train new labor team members on safe handling procedures, chemical blending processes, and work expectations.
- Collaborate with the production leadership team to meet daily and weekly output goals.
- Respond to operational issues or safety events, supporting corrective actions under the guidance of the site manager.
- Prepare the facility for internal audits, inspections, and customer visits by ensuring work areas are clean, organized, and compliant.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a warehouse, logistics, chemical blending, or chemical handling environment.
- Prior experience in a lead, supervisory, or support management role is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of safe handling of chemicals, basic blending procedures, and basic hazmat safety procedures (training can be provided).
- Comfortable working around heavy equipment, chemical containers, and industrial environments.
- Flexibility to work on-call, nights, weekends, holidays, and all shifts as needed to support continuous operations and ensure safe final-mile delivery.
- Able to lead by example, stay calm under pressure, and promote a culture of teamwork and accountability.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs, work on your feet for long periods, and operate in all weather conditions (PPE provided).
- High school diploma or GED required; additional training or certifications (e.g., forklift, hazmat, OSHA 10/30) a plus.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, reliable work ethic.
