Assistant Production Manager

About the Role

Directs and coordinates the production of company product(s) in the absence of the Production Manager. When the Production Manager is on site, follows and supports the manager's direction.

Responsibilities

• Provides on-the-job guidance and training to Foremen.
• Enforces safety policies with Foremen and production employees.
• Coordinates personnel management with the Human Resources department.
• Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control to optimize production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
• Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to identify causes of nonconformity and operational issues.
• Develops and implements operating methods and procedures to eliminate problems and improve product quality.
• Revises production schedules and priorities due to equipment failure or operational problems.
• Consults with engineering personnel on machine and equipment modifications to improve production and product quality.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages subordinate supervisors who oversee plant employees when the Production Manager is unavailable. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent.
• One-year certificate from college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Strong and clear communication skills.
• Problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to lead a large team.
• Flexibility to work under stringent deadlines and high work pressure regularly.
