Assistant Production Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an Experienced Assistant Production Manager to assist the breeder manager in directing and coordinating breeding operations, ensuring the delivery of quality product.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage assigned breeder operations.
• Ensure the required quantity and quality of hatch eggs are available for hatcheries.
• Oversee all Breeder Producer relationships and all goods and services associated with their needs.
• Implement and monitor all pullet and breeder production programs.
• Ensure the training and development of all Breeder Representatives and Technicians.
• Provide communication and direction for contract growers.
• Monitor development of contract growers, pullet placements, moves, vaccinations, and hatch egg numbers.
• Provide performance and cost numbers to accounting and management.
• Monitor pullet and breeder flock health and adherence to blood testing procedures.
• Maintain pullet growing agreements and breeder flock agreements.
• Lead and manage in a way consistent with the company’s values and strategic objectives.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations (e.g., Animal Welfare, Safety, Environmental).

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Poultry Science, Agricultural Science, or related field from an accredited institution OR 4 years equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum 4 years’ poultry breeder operational experience.
• Minimum 4 years’ supervisory experience within a similar environment.
• Advanced poultry science knowledge.
• Demonstrated high level of initiative and ownership of projects.
• Ability to confront and manage through conflict situations with employees and contractors.
• High work capacity, dependable, results-oriented, and strong sense of urgency.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Demonstrated success building effective teams with proven ability to lead by engaging and motivating a team and influencing an organization.
• Highly effective interpersonal communication skills sufficient to communicate and interact effectively with all levels within the organization.
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of math functions and skills.
• Solid computer skills, particularly with MS Office programs.
• Advanced organizational skills, with attention to detail.
• Demonstrated sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
