About the role
This position assists the Principal in leading and supervising the secondary school's educational program to enhance student achievement, personal and social development, while adhering to CCS policies, procedures, rules, and laws.
Responsibilities
- Promotes a safe and supportive learning environment for students and staff.
- Responds respectfully and effectively to inquiries, concerns, or complaints from members of the educational community.
- Accomplishes professional development by attending seminars, workshops, and conducting research.
- Motivates staff to grow professionally and implement innovative teaching methods.
- Assesses student learning and collaborates with instructional coaches and specialists to tailor teaching methods to meet students' needs, including those with special needs.
- Fosters parental engagement and maintains open communication with students and parents.
- Enforces CCS policies, including the Student Code of Conduct, Uniform Code, and Computer Usage Code, and engages in restorative practices for student policy infractions.
- Serves as a role model and instructional resource for intervention and equity services.
- Demonstrates high moral, ethical, and professional standards and maintains confidentiality regarding school and student information.
- Adheres to the CCS Employee Manual, policies, and professional conduct guidelines.
- Uses technology effectively for teaching and learning.
Requirements
- Master of Education degree and PA Principal certification.
- Minimum of three years of classroom experience and demonstrated competence as a teacher.
- Experience and competence in a leadership role in a school setting.
- Experience and competence in restorative practices for student policy infractions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Training on equity, diversity, and culturally responsive pedagogy preferred.
- Knowledge and skills in using technology for teaching and learning.
Qualifications
- Clearances include Criminal Background Clearance (Act 34), Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151), and FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114), all dated within one year of receipt.
- Meets criteria for employment in a PA public school.
