About the role

Campus Principals are responsible for direct and managing the instructional program and supervising operations and personnel at the campus level. They provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service and oversee compliance with district policies, success of instructional programs, and operations of all campus activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service.
  • Oversee compliance with district policies, success of instructional program, and operations of all campus activities.
  • Leverage curriculum, technology, and physical spaces for future-ready learning and instruction.
  • Cultivate social emotional learning to ensure the well-being of all students.
  • Support implementation of district goals of future-ready learning, balanced assessment, and focus on personalized learning and growth for all students.
  • Oversee procedures and processes to maintain a safe and healthy environment for staff and students.
  • Interpret data and demonstrate strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Encourage and support the development of skills for the future-ready learner, including embracing challenges, communicating, collaborating, contributing, innovation, and responding.
  • Model effective use of digital learning and the value of taking risks to advance the district vision for future-ready learning.
  • Assist in providing students with opportunities to take ownership of their learning and responsibility for their own behaviors.
  • Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
  • Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook.
  • Select, develop, and retain future-ready staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance regarding instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication with the public.
  • Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences with staff.
  • Make employment recommendations to principal and superintendent.
  • Engage in collaborative goal-setting with staff.
  • Manage fiscal, administrative, and facilities functions.
  • Supervise operations in principal's absence.
  • Plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
  • Serve as a role model for all campus staff.
  • Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.
  • Provide a balanced partnership between a community and school to address learning standards essential to the success of the future-ready learner.
  • Invite partnerships to create real-world learning opportunities for students.
  • Articulate the school's mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
  • Use creative techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
  • Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with school principal.

Requirements

Education/Certification: Master’s degree in Educational Administration, Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate, eligible to be a certified appraiser for the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) or other approved evaluation system.

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Ability to lead the administrative team under the guidance of the campus principal.
  • Ability to leverage curriculum, technology, and physical spaces for future-ready learning and instruction.
  • Ability to cultivate social emotional learning to ensure the well-being of all students.
  • Ability to support implementation of district goals of future-ready learning, balanced assessment, and focus on personalized learning and growth for all students.

  • Ability to demonstrate strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of experience as a classroom teacher, Secondary experience preferred, Instructional Leadership experience preferred.

Qualifications
