Assistant Principal Elementary: Jefferson-Houston PreK-8 School

About the role

The Assistant Principal (Elementary) assists the School's Head Principal in leading the instructional program and ensures its alignment with division regulations for curriculum design and assessment. This position is an Administration, 12-month position, reporting to the School's Head Principal.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree, A Master’s degree in related field is required.
• A Valid Virginia Department of Education Teaching PostGraduate License, with the add-on endorsement in Adminstration & Supervision PreK-12, or eligibility to obtain the appropriate endorsement upon hiring.
• Minimum of three years of successful experience as a teacher and/or administrator.
• Experience in elementary curriculum and instruction, including dual language programming, programs for special education (particularly inclusion models), EL programming, and advanced academic services.
• A performance record that demonstrates high integrity, vision, innovation, enthusiasm and a strong commitment to diverse, multilingual schools.

Essential Functions

• Selects, assigns, orientates and evaluates staff.
• Develops, supervises and evaluates the school's instructional programs, including dual language, specialized instruction, EL services, and advanced academic services.
• Prepares of the school budget and the master schedule in a dual language model.
• Formulates and implements professional development activities.
• Interprets and enforces Board policies and regulations as well as school mission and goals.
• Supervises the use and maintenance of facilities and evaluates custodians.
• Supervises and coordinates student discipline and welfare.
• Contributes to the school mission and goals for the purpose of providing a positive learning climate and supportive community environment.
