Responsibilities
- Acts on behalf of the principal in his/her absence.
- Aids in defining the school’s mission and communicating goals and expectations.
- Maintains compliance with Board of Education policies, regulations, and operating procedures.
- Monitors and improves student achievement through the analysis of data.
- Serves as a supervisor and evaluator of all school-based personnel.
- Supports the principal in continuous school improvement efforts.
- Develops and implements a school crisis and emergency management plan.
- Coordinates and supervises student activities.
- Writes reports as needed.
- Maintains accurate student records including grade reporting and attendance.
- Engages in leadership development activities.
- Determines and implements organizational structures, student placements, evaluations, and services to meet individual student needs.
- Manages the school’s business operations and develops a working knowledge of local school finances.
- Models a positive work ethic and collaborates with students, staff, and community members.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in a related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Three (3) years of successful teaching experience.
Qualifications
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with all stakeholders.
- Builds a collaborative team that sets high expectations for all students.
- Engages community organizations, individual education supporters, and businesses to support student achievement and development.
- Knowledge of the curriculum of Anne Arundel County schools.
- Creates a school culture that values the diversity of its communities.
- Proficient in business technology applications such as video/web conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Holds or is eligible for Supervisor of Instruction, Assistant Principal, and Principal licensure issued by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).
