Assistant Preschool Teacher

Part-time, non-exempt position (approximately 30 hours per week, Monday–Friday 10:00 AM–4:30 PM).

About the role

The Assistant Preschool Teacher provides a safe, healthy, and educational learning environment for children and families in accordance with state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing developmentally appropriate activities aligned with curriculum standards to nurture, stimulate, and meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of children.
  • Support the day-to-day program schedule and interact with children to build positive relationships based on respect, trust, and care.
  • Monitor the classroom to ensure a safe, well-ventilated, and well-lit environment with properly maintained equipment.
  • Assist in completing and maintaining children’s files and reports.
  • Maintain visual and auditory supervision of children at all times to ensure safety.
  • Promote open and effective communication, teamwork, and shared responsibility in classroom routines.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, energy, and commitment in interactions with children and families.
  • Support consistent, meaningful parent involvement and preschool program goals.
  • Maintain liaison with families, schools, businesses, and community agencies.
  • Participate in open houses and special programs as assigned.
  • May be assigned to other classrooms as needed.
  • Communicate pertinent family contacts and concerns to the Preschool Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; EEC Teacher qualified preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Honesty, integrity, and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Good judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Understanding and application of EEC regulations, NAEYC standards, and departmental policies.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, balancing multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Consistent punctuality and adherence to scheduled shifts.
  • Commitment to organizational policies, procedures, and high program standards.
  • Advocacy for the Club as a positive environment.

Pay

$17 per hour.
