Assistant Pre-School Teacher (Family Educator 1) – Multiple positions and locations

About the role

The role supports the successful growth and development of children and their families participating in the ECEAP. The program provides comprehensive services designed to support healthy families, empowered individuals, and thriving communities through high-quality early learning and family-centered opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Aid the Educator in supervising and promoting activities designed to enhance the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of children enrolled.
• Aid the Educator in the daily educational procedures within the classroom, including music, meals, group projects, free-time, outside activities, etc.
• Interact positively with all children to support their individual learning and meet their emotional needs.
• Perform daily, light classroom cleaning to maintain a neat and organized classroom.
• Prepare and serve snacks and meals; participate in and facilities mealtime service and joins children at the table for support and conversation.

Requirements

• One year of successful, relevant work experience in a preschool or child care setting and a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential awarded by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition or 12 college quarter credits in early childhood education.
• A Pediatric First Aide/CPR card and Food Handler’s permit must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• TB skin test or for those individuals with a positive skin test a statement from a doctor or chest x-ray must be furnished upon hire.

Qualifications

• Additional education or experience may substitute for the recruiting requirements.

Success as a preschool assistant teacher hinges on a combination of skills, attitudes, and practices that contribute to a nurturing and effective learning environment. Some skills may include strong communication and active listening, keeping an organized classroom, implementing positive reinforcement, building a positive relationship with children through empathy and understanding, flexibility, and embracing change.

This is a grant-funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon job performance/evaluation, continued funding of the program, and other appropriate County procedures.

Compensation is based on a range of job-related factors, including the requirements of the role, your skills and experience, and internal pay equity.

Schedule

The Full-time (40 hours) Career Service position is located in Eatonville. The two Part-time (20 hours) Limited Duration positions are located in Buckley and University Place.
