Assistant Plant Superintendent - Reserve, LA

About the role

This is a salaried, exempt-level position. Scope The Plant Assistant Superintendent will provide leadership support to the Export Elevator Plant Superintendent in all aspects of production and safety within an export elevator setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision for approximately fifty employees, including both salaried and hourly staff at an export elevator.
• Provide an injury-free work environment for employees, staff, contractors, and visitors through engagement, required training programs, best management work practices, adherence to standards, and initiative-taking elimination of exposures.
• Continually improve the plant's safety record by addressing and correcting both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes.
• Maintain and improve housekeeping in all plant areas to ensure safety and compliance.
• Plan, organize, and direct manufacturing operations to ensure the most effective return on assets.
• Minimize manufacturing costs through the effective utilization of manpower, facilities, and materials.
• Assure the attainment of business objectives and production schedules. Reduce costs and seek to improve efficiency in all areas of plant operations.
• Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout all plant departments for safety leadership, problem-solving, and cost reduction.
• Encourage the use of new techniques and focus on fact-based problem-solving.
• Manage operations department spending and expenses to the minimum levels required to meet site strategy.
• Select and train supervisory and administrative staff.
• Congduct employee performance reviews and schedule plant meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience, including at least 3 years of management and supervisory experience in plant operations.
• Proven ability to engage and motivate employees, as well as to discipline both hourly and salaried staff.
