Assistant Plant Manager - Aggregate Operation

About the Role

The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for managing all safety, operational, financial, environmental and personnel duties for the plant in accordance with company programs, policies, and guidelines as well as government agencies.

Location: St. Cloud Quarry is a 2M+ tons per year, seasonal granite operation located in Central MN. Forty‑team members perform at a high level to produce up to 2,000 tph of high‑quality aggregates. Truck and rail loadout can reach 20,000 tons per day.

Responsibilities

• Assist the plant manager with daily and strategic management of plant functions and provide leadership in areas including financial, safety, environmental, and personnel.
• Drive location expectations and metrics such as company assets, budgeting, cost‑control/savings measures, environmental and personnel functions.
• Champion the Martin Marietta safety culture and ensure compliance with all local, federal, state and company policies.
• Provide direction to meet plant safety, quality, production and employee development expectations.
• Comply with, maintain and update all local, state, federal and company environmental regulatory programs, policies and guidelines.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent work/military experience required.
• 4 + years of related experience.
• 3‑5 years quarry management experience preferred.
• Knowledge of MSHA laws and commitment to safety.

Work Environment

This job operates frequently in a maintenance and operations environment at a surface‑mine location. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand‑eye coordination, manual dexterity, repetitive motion, standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, bending and stooping, working from an elevated position and the ability to drive. This is a safety‑sensitive role and Martin Marietta will continue to require drug testing that includes testing for cannabis/THC.

Position Type / Expected Hours

Full‑time position at a 24‑hour operation. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.
