About the role
The Assistant Patient Care Manager (APCM) position is a 100% onsite opportunity based in the greater Chicagoland area. This role is located in the Surgical ICU department at the University of Chicago Medicine's Hyde Park campus.
Responsibilities
- Completes daily or shift specific quality audits and Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) boards.
- Facilitates daily huddles with staff.
- Directs delivery of quality, patient-centered care in a financially responsible manner.
- Assists & collaborates with the Patient Care Manager (PCM) in supporting changes, new and existing programs with staff input and feedback.
- Affords assistance in developing goals consistent with department and hospital goals.
- Assists & collaborates in utilizing appropriate resources and departments to facilitate operations.
- Participates actively in committee work and task force assignments on as needed bases.
- Identifies issues, presents strategies, and acts as a change agent to resolve patient care issues.
Requirements
- Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher.
- Minimum of two years nursing experience.
- Minimum of one year clinical experience in the area they are applying.
- Charge nurse experience with demonstrated leadership skills required and/or equivalent experience.
- Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate and ONCC Certification within 1 year of hire.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Specialty certifications preferred.
- Experience working at an academic medical center and in a unionized environment preferred.
