About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Oral Interpretation Coach to join our dedicated team at Lincoln High School. This position is crucial in supporting our students' growth and development through rigorous training and coaching.
Responsibilities
- Reads new material and prepares cuttings in the seven oral interpretation competitive categories.
- Helps students prepare introductions for their interpretation selections.
- Schedules coaching sessions for all competitive interpreters.
- Maintains a close relationship with the school's Booster Club and competitor's families.
- Organizes and hosts the year-end oral interpretation awards ceremony.
- Judges interpretation and other forensic events at tournaments attended.
- Assists in hosting and administering novice after school contest(s).
- Communicates with the Fine Arts Coordinator on all items of travel, budget, standards, calendar, and schedules.
Requirements
- Education level: Bachelor's degree recommended.
- Experience: Desired degree in theater or course work in theater, plus training in oral interpretation coaching techniques.
- Physical requirements: Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination and hearing; intermittent repetitive motions with the wrists, hands and fingers, sitting, walking and keyboarding. Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, pulling, speaking, turning, grasping and carrying.
- Other requirements: Extensive background in dramatic literature, all forms of prose, poetry and non-fiction. Familiarity with all rules governing oral interpretation competition and National Forensic League oral interpretation rules. Willingness to commit time to finding selections and one-on-one coaching of interpreters. Availability to work several days after school and/or evenings coaching students. Availability to chaperone, coach, and judge at weekend and after school contests.
Qualifications
