Assistant or Associate Professor of Actuarial Science
Purdue University’s College of Science seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor to strengthen its top-ranked Actuarial Science program, jointly managed by the Mathematics and Statistics departments. This role will help build a globally leading research program while preparing undergraduate and graduate students for the actuarial profession.

Qualifications
- Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science
- Demonstrated excellence in research
- Strong commitment to teaching
- Expertise in actuarial science, including but not limited to probability, risk measurement, stochastic modeling, data science, and mathematical/computational sciences
- Preference for candidates with experience or willingness to acquire knowledge of the actuarial profession’s exam system
- Ability to work in the U.S. without immigration sponsorship (e.g., H-1B, TN, E-3, or O-1 visa status)
Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain a research program in actuarial science or related fields
- Teach courses in mathematical or statistical areas underpinning actuarial science, with some semesters at the West Lafayette campus and others at the Indianapolis campus
- Build an external funding portfolio
- Forge connections with the actuarial profession
- Participate in program, college, and university activities

The Actuarial Science program at Purdue is a Center of Actuarial Excellence, recognized by the Society of Actuaries. It offers a stimulating academic environment connecting research with the actuarial profession. With over 300 undergraduate students and a partnership with Purdue’s Data Mine learning community, the program is closely tied to fast-growing majors like Data Science.
