About the role
The Assistant Operator supports the sheet extrusion process in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, assisting the Extruder Operator & Lead Operator in preparing assets for production, operating equipment, and monitoring and maintaining sheet extrusion equipment to ensure production and quality standards are achieved.
Schedule
B Shift: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and every other Sunday, 6:45 PM to 7:00 AM. $1 per hour shift differential.
Responsibilities
- Read and comprehend Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required to meet production standards.
- Assist in the setup and operation of sheet extrusion assets according to product specifications, including the use of metric and standard tape measures.
- Unload and transport finished materials and scrap materials to designated areas with lift trucks.
- Maintain a three-year certification in sit-down and stand-up lift trucks.
- Prepare packaging supplies and pallets to ensure timely supply to support the production asset.
- Monitor production parameters (e.g., temperature, speeds, tension setpoints, material levels, pressures, etc.) and report abnormalities.
- Perform cleaning and operational maintenance of equipment to reduce downtime and improve uptime/throughput.
- Label, store, and record finished goods.
- Adhere to company safety protocols and ensure cleanliness of the work area by following departmental housekeeping standards, including wearing required PPE.
- Communicate effectively with peers as required (leadership, operators, maintenance, and quality).
- Report unsafe working conditions to leadership.
- Demonstrate time management, a team-player attitude, and multitasking in the working environment.
- Dedicate effort to a continuous improvement work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years of experience preferred.
- Ability to read production manufacturing orders (MOs).
- Ability to perform math calculations including fractions.
- Ability to use a tape measure.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to lift fifty pounds, bend, stretch, or stand for extended periods of time.
