Assistant Operator

About the role

Novipax is seeking an Assistant Operator to join our team at our headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois. This position is based in our facilities across the USA, where you will assist in setting up and maintaining packaging lines.

Responsibilities

• Set up line (change over) set slitters, separators, adjust hammer mill doors and adjusting die head to prevent overspray.
• Help keep rolls supplied to Fan Fold lines (moving rolls off packing table).
• Assist in wrapping rolls when line is running Roll-Stock.
• Pick up rolls off packing table and place them on a table to be wrapped.
• Place wrapped rolls on a pallet to be placed in the warehouse.
• Wrap the pallet, so Material Handler can move the pallet.
• Clean work areas at the end of the shift.
• Take instructions from the operator and perform any combination of incidental tasks.
• Inspect work in process for conformance to quality standards and advise the operator of any deficiencies.
• Continuously clean machine, floors and work areas.
• Unload, load and feed raw materials into the machine.
• Assist the QA Packer as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper levels of adhesive in the hot melt glue tank.
• Learn whatever possible to satisfy the requirements of the operator.
• Operate Job Cranes and Forklifts in a safe manner.
• Wear safety equipment and obey safety rules.
• Satisfy production requirements.
• May work in other areas throughout the plant.

Requirements

Essential skills and abilities required for this position include:

• Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Attention to detail and ability to inspect work in process.
• Basic understanding of machinery operation and maintenance.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
