Assistant Operator -12 Hour Shift (Days/Nights)

Overview

Under the direction of VP operations and/or Dept Supervisor, oversees hourly employees to ensure the production of the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost, while meeting company standards for quality and performance, customer specifications and delivery requirements, in accordance with Pregis policies and procedures.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Possess and demonstrate developing leadership qualities.
• Use leadership skills to direct press crews in the efficient operation of the company’s machines.
• Read and understand all information on job tickets pertaining to a specific job.
• Ensure that all necessary components to produce the job are present. Does not move forward on any job with conflicting information.
• Understand and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures.
• Set up and operate all special functions and capabilities with minimal supervision or direction.
• Train other employees when requested or required to do so.
• Analyze issues, determine, and implement solutions.
• Provide innovative/creative solutions for opportunities and/or improvements.

• Promote positive teamwork culture.
• Effectively and respectfully communicate with team and during shift transition.
• Knowledgeable of safety requirements and guidelines in manufacturing/warehouse environment.

Physical Characteristics

• Frequent standing, stooping.
• Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling (up to 50 lbs.).
• Occasional typing/keyboarding.

Education And Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• 5-7 years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience.

Environment

• Exposure to moving equipment.
• Inside work.
• Heat may exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Humidity may exceed 80%.
• Noise may exceed 85dB+.
