Assistant Operations Manager

About the role
The Assistant Operations Manager provides support for operational activities, assisting in the development and maintenance of the facility under the direction of the Operations and Commercial Managers. This role ensures the facility remains prepared to meet schedules and capitalize on opportunities, focusing on inventory control, cost management, logistics, and facility upkeep.
Responsibilities
- Assist and ensure effective inventory control within company requirements.
- Help maintain operational costs at or below the cost control plan.
- Support the Operations Manager in developing and executing facility improvements.
- Aid in maximizing mix & blend opportunities using in-house stocks and market grain through effective space allocation.
- Assist in scheduling preventative maintenance to maintain a safe, reliable facility compliant with OSHA grain handling standards.
- Support talent development for operational staff to manage costs and ensure uninterrupted facility operations.
- Help implement energy conservation programs to enhance sustainability and reduce energy costs.
- Maintain asset security to minimize exposure to theft, property damage, vandalism, and trespassing.
- Lead onsite workers, including contractors, temps, and service providers.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, environmental, and company programs, including Federal, State, and Local regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service and assist customers as needed.
- Recommend process improvements as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Prior experience working in an elevator and/or terminal (farming background a plus).
- Ability to work and interact well with others.
Special Demands
- Heavy-duty, operational, mechanical, and technical hands-on responsibilities.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, kneel, and bend.
- Frequently required to lift or move more than 50 pounds.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts; moderate to loud noise levels.
- Outdoor work environment, including heights and inclement weather (~80% of the time).
- Rotating weekend availability required.
