Position Summary
The Assistant Nurse Operations Manager (ANOM) oversees nursing practice and administrative tasks within their designated unit/department, ensuring optimal patient care and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the recruitment and selection of new team members through interviews and evaluations.
- Coordinates with the Unit/Department Nursing Operations Manager on corrective actions, discipline, and career advancement.
- Investigates event reports and provides feedback to both managers and team members.
- Maintains oversight of patient flow and intervenes as necessary to achieve expected outcomes.
- Performs Nurse Leader rounds and reviews to identify deviations from best practices and regulatory standards.
- Participates in process/quality improvement initiatives to enhance outcomes and standard work.
- Ensures the customer experience is maintained by all team members and provides service recovery as needed.
- Interfaces with patients and families to provide instruction, promote participation, and coordinate nursing activities.
- Participates in and/or leads staff meetings, GEMBA boards, or huddles, demonstrating ownership of unit and outcomes.
- Performs direct patient care activities as required to meet operational needs.
- Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills and respects the rights and privacy of others.
- Maintains incident reports and follows up with event reports as needed.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Expresses ideas clearly and effectively in verbal and written communication.
- Advocates on behalf of the nursing staff to represent the concerns of patients, families, and staff.
- Implements strategies that promote education, health, and safety.

- Manages various human resources functions including recruitment/selection, retention, supervision, coaching, and productivity.
- Aids in the clinical evaluation of team members, completes written clinical performance evaluations, and conducts timely assessments.
- Ensures compliance with certifications, licenses, and required education for team members.
- Influences team members to enhance their abilities and promote professional development.
- Supports appropriate clinical practice knowledge, aligning with the Professional Practice Model values.
- Maintains superior clinical and critical thinking skills for assigned unit/department.
- Maintains compliance with financial management practices, promoting cost-effective management of equipment and supplies.

Qualifications
- Bachelor in Nursing Degree (BSN).
- Bachelor in Nursing (BSN) with Graduate degree in Business or health-related field preferred.
- Masters in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
- Two years as a Registered Nurse in an acute setting.
- Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- One or more of the following certifications based on the assigned patient population:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
