Assistant Nurse Manager - Ortho Neuro Trauma

This role supports the Ortho Neuro Trauma Unit (2C) at the Newark Campus—a dynamic 35-bed unit specializing in adult patients recovering from complex orthopedic injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and other trauma-related conditions. The unit features an on-site physical therapy gym to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and optimal recovery outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Partner with the Nurse Manager to support clinical excellence and daily operations
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate staff performance and competency
- Participate in employee engagement, recruitment, retention, and human resource initiatives
- Supervise staff and coordinate daily staffing and scheduling activities
- Assist with budget development and maintain fiscal accountability
- Support initiatives to enhance patient, employee, and physician satisfaction
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards
- Lead and support quality, safety, and performance improvement efforts
- Promote shared governance and serve as a leadership liaison to unit-based councils and interdisciplinary teams
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and patient-centered care
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Master’s Degree in Nursing required or commitment to obtain within five years of hire
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Acute care nursing experience preferred
- Minimum of five years of progressive clinical and leadership experience
- Related specialty board certification required
Schedule
This position includes an off-shift leadership requirement to support staff across all shifts and ensure operational excellence.
Pay
Hourly pay range: $52.97 – $84.75. The actual salary offered within this range will depend on individual factors such as skills, relevant experience, and qualifications.
