About the role

The Manager-Assistant Nurse (ANM) is a participating member of the Nursing Leadership Team, responsible for eliminating barriers between departments and facilities. They provide leadership to assigned department professional nursing staff, participate in budget development and implementation, foster positive relationships, and support clinical and service programs.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in development and implementation of the budget, including capital and operating budgets.
  • Support the achievement of capital and operating budget objectives within areas of responsibility.
  • Foster positive relationships with physicians, other nurse leaders, and associates of assigned department.
  • Ensure effective daily operations of the nursing unit(s) by monitoring all activities necessary to provide consistent, high quality patient care, including staffing, equipment, supplies, and services.
  • Ensure nursing unit(s) is in a state of continued regulatory readiness by adhering to all appropriate legal and ethical requirements.
  • Collaborate in setting the NGHS nursing strategic direction and focusing on activities that support nursing initiatives.
  • Ensure nursing involvement and support for the Professional Nursing Governance structure, including a Unit Practice Council for every unit under his/her span of control.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications include a licensed RN in Georgia, an ADN degree with enrollment in a BSN program within 6 months of hire, and a BSN or higher degree within three years of hire. Preferred qualifications include a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field within five years of hire, charge nurse or supervisory experience, and professional organization membership.

Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications: Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia. National certification in either a clinical or leadership specialty within two years of hire.
  • Educational Requirements: Associates Degree. Must be enrolled in a BSN program within 6 months of hire. Must complete BSN within three years of hire into the position.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years RN experience and has an ADN degree OR minimum of 3 years RN experience and has a BSN or higher degree.

Strong knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations governing nursing practice, ability to exercise sound, independent judgement, proactive, engaged, visible leader, excellent follow through on issues impacting care delivery, effective communication skills, critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, calmness during stressful situations, ability to instruct, direct, and evaluate employees, adapt nursing care to the emotional needs and behavior of patients, tailor communication and performance feedback to the individual employee, communicate orally with a variety of people answering questions and explaining information and decisions, proactive in addressing potential customer service issues, engage directly with physician and staff to ensure adherence to evidence-based practice standards, assess, coach, and evaluate staff’s level of clinical practice, ensure compliance with established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality controls and regulatory standards and requirements, proactively support and promote a professional practice model that encourages staff participation in the development of clinical standards, collaborate, collegial, utilize best practice research, and monitor staff performance/competency and provide feedback in a timely manner.
