About the role

This is an executive position (no union affiliation) and serves at the pleasure of the Mayor of the Municipality of Anchorage.

Responsibilities

  • Handles all aspects of misdemeanor prosecution under the municipal code, including case screening, arraignment, evidence assessment, police, witness, and victim contact, research, motions, and status hearings and trials.
  • Works under a supervisory permit pending bar exam results.
  • Maintains Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) / National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Ensures compliance with Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) and FBI National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification requirements.
  • Manages a fast-paced office with ample opportunities for courtroom and trial experience.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of law.
  • Admission to the State of Alaska Bar Association within 6 months to 1 year of hire.
  • Satisfactory background check including criminal, education, and employment history.
  • Satisfactory credit check at time of hire.
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License and satisfactory Driving Record at time of hire.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications: Graduation from an accredited school of law.
  • May work under a supervisory permit pending bar exam results.
  • Must be admitted to the State of Alaska Bar Association within 6 months to 1 year of hire.

  • Legal knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to handle misdemeanor prosecution cases.
  • Experience with APSIN and NCIC security clearances.

Pay

Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
