About the role
The Assistant Merchant I is a category-specific cross-functional role that supports the Merchandiser in all aspects of category planning and execution to achieve company goals. This role assists with product assortment selection, proprietary product development, pricing, space and assortment planning, promotions and advertisements, and sales and inventory data review. End-user experience with product category merchandise (e.g., apparel, hunting, or fishing) is preferred. This position exposes the team member to all aspects of the Merchant team role and offers development of a wide variety of skills.
Responsibilities
- Assists the merchant in the preparation of financial plans and business strategy.
- Analyzes historical data, current trends, and competitor pricing to identify opportunities, forecast sales and inventory, and develop strategies to maximize opportunity and mitigate risks.
- Communicates effectively with cross-functional teams and vendor partners.
- Balances workload priorities to ensure successful execution of business initiatives.
- Assists in the development of proprietary product, identifying market trends, and developing product and price structures.
- Assists Merchant and Product Development team with product specifications, sourcing, forecasting, and marketing strategy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Product Development, or Merchandising.
- 0–1 year of experience.

Travel
