About the role
The Assistant Lacrosse Coach is responsible for teaching and coaching student-athletes to develop and acquire the necessary skills to compete at the Division III level. This position assists the head coach in skill evaluation, instruction, planning, organization, and supervision of practices and competitions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual workouts with players to instruct and coach players outside of regular practice on techniques and skills.
- Aid in developing competitive teams within the conference, region, and nationally by maximizing student-athletes' talents.
- Promote teamwork and support the educational goals of individual student-athletes.
- Implement a coaching philosophy that fosters an environment supportive of academics and teamwork.
- Assist with recruitment efforts by building and developing relationships with prospective student-athletes.
- Evaluate and compare athletic talent for prospective student-athletes based on potential growth and development.
- Assist with equipment, apparel, and facility maintenance as directed by the Head Coach.
- Participate in administrative functions such as coordinating team travel.
- Complete all credit card reconciliations, email correspondence, returning of phone calls, and meeting deadlines as directed.
- Ensure compliance with NCAA, Rhodes College, SAA (Southern Athletic Conference), and Rhodes College Athletics rules and guidelines.
- Partner with the compliance office.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in higher education, sports administration, student personnel, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
- One year of high school or college-level coaching and/or playing lacrosse experience is required.
- A valid driver's license, a good driving record, and insurability by the College's insurance carrier are required.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with various stakeholders are essential.
- The ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision is required.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is necessary.
Qualifications
