General Purpose
Performs major and mechanical repairs on various gasoline, diesel and electric power equipment; keeps all equipment in efficient and operable condition at all times.
Essential Duties
- Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in many types of various types of equipment.
- Performs machining or welding work in making fittings etc. used in repair of maintenance equipment and may also fabricate parts.
- Maintains records of preventative maintenance, repairs made, parts ordered.
- Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment and automotive apparatus.
- Skilled in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools and in the making of various types of mechanical repairs.
- Knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines, electric equipment and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnostics mechanical troubles and schedules appropriate preventative maintenance work.
- Helps to control costs and expenses in the maintenance of the equipment fleet relating to parts purchases, inventory levels, service work.
- Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.

- Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally may lift up to 100 pounds;
Environment/Noise
- Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather);
- With toxic or caustic materials;
- In extreme cold or heat (non-weather);
- May experience vibration.
Education/Experience
- Certificate from college or technical school;
- Or up to 3-5 years of related experience and/or training;
- Or equivalent combination and experience.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally may lift up to 100 pounds;
- Works in outdoor weather conditions and may face the risk of electrical shock or encounter fumes or airborne pathogens.
Union Position
$35.03 per hour
