About the Role
The Assistant Meat Manager supports the Meat Manager in overseeing all aspects of the Meat Department, ensuring exceptional customer service, food safety compliance, product quality, inventory control, merchandising standards, and department profitability. This role involves leading department associates, maintaining a clean and organized operation, and contributing to the growth of Albertsons Companies.
Responsibilities
- Department Operations: Assist in managing daily Meat Department operations, ensure proper stocking, rotation, and merchandising of meat and seafood products, maintain attractive displays, monitor inventory levels, and assist with ordering.
- Customer Service: Deliver exceptional customer service, assist with product selection and special orders, resolve customer concerns, promote department sales, and ensure efficient service counter operations.
- Leadership & Team Development: Assist with training, coaching, and developing associates, help schedule and assign daily work, promote teamwork and accountability, and assume department leadership in the absence of the Meat Manager.
- Food Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements, monitor product handling and storage, maintain clean work areas, and enforce safe work practices.
- Inventory & Financial Performance: Assist in achieving sales and financial goals, monitor inventory levels, reduce shrink, and support operational efficiency initiatives.
Qualifications
- Previous meat, grocery, retail, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of meat merchandising, product handling, and food safety practices preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and develop associates.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Basic math, inventory management, and computer skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Ability to lift and move products consistent with department requirements.
- Ability to work in refrigerated environments and varying store conditions.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
