Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Affirms the establishment of standards of performance, quality improvement, and care delivery models for their areas of responsibility.
  • Maintains oversight of the process to ensure its effectiveness.
  • Collaborates with coordinator/contact nurses/staff to resolve departmental issues, both inter- and intra-departmentally.
  • Involves staff in problem-solving processes and ensures desired outcomes are achieved.
  • Delegates tasks appropriately to coordinator/contact nurses/staff.
  • Supports personnel management including scheduling, staffing, and productivity benchmarks.
  • Develops, interprets, and administers departmental policies, procedures, protocols, and regulations.
  • Analyzes, plans, forecasts, and reports on departmental activities.
  • Assists in developing and justifying the department’s budget, promoting cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintains and enhances communication channels.
  • Promotes staff development and participation in committees.
  • Facilitates and supports staff involvement in meetings and committees.
  • Works collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare team members.
  • Ensures evaluation, competencies, and patient satisfaction are up-to-date.
  • Develops and implements quality improvement and education plans for units.
  • Maintains unit cleanliness and orderliness.
  • Identifies and reports capital needs to the manager.
  • Remains updated on advancements and changes in patient treatments and technologies.
  • Facilitates and promotes staff professional development.
  • Identifies and works towards personal professional growth.
  • Identifies basic competencies for the patient population of their unit to ensure standard of care is met.
  • Collaborates with the management team and advocates for system goals, programs, and image.
  • Cooperates with other education and service agencies to meet community health care needs.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Three years of professional nursing experience providing broad clinical exposure.
  • Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse license.
  • BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or equivalent through the Military Training Network (MTN).
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • ACLS certification preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
