Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of appropriate terminology in anatomy, biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise physiology, and exercise adaptations for special populations.
- Broad working knowledge of the administration and maintenance of a fitness facility, preferably in a campus (University) recreation setting.
- Skill in writing concise, logical and grammatically correct business correspondence, proposals and evaluations.
- Ability to identify problems, assess alternatives and render logical and practical recommendations.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff members, subordinates and campus personnel.
- Skill in interacting diplomatically with the public.
- Skill in setting priorities that accurately reflect importance of job responsibilities, working independently, and following through on assignments with minimal direction.
- Supervision includes delegating responsibility, training, and evaluating performances. Skill in scheduling, developing and supervising student/part-time staff, limited appointment employees and overseeing payroll reporting; policies and procedures.
- The John Wooden Center is a 24 hour facility. Must be able to flex schedule and work nights, weekends, overnights and holidays as needed.
- Working knowledge of and skill in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator use and protocol to assist in emergency response as needed.
- Knowledge of risk management procedures, including management of Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Demonstrated skill in listening perceptively and maintaining equanimity when dealing with conflicts, complaints and difficult situations.
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
- Bachelor's Degree from accredited 4-year institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must hold a fitness certification from a nationally recognized organization (examples include: NSCA, NASM, ACSM, etc.).
- Must hold or be willing to acquire certification to teach CPR/FA from American Red Cross.
Special Conditions for Employment
- Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
- Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
- Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
- CANRA: The position is designated as a mandatory reporter under CANRA. The employee must sign the "Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse."

8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. PT/variable based upon operational needs.
