Assistant Manager, Customer Pickup Operations

About the role

Support outbound shipping operations across the warehouse network. Lead day-shift execution, ensuring accurate, timely, and complete customer pickup orders. Lead load planning and scheduling, monitor SLAs, oversee staging, scanning, and loading, and resolve operational issues.

Responsibilities

• Act as key leader for day-shift outbound shipping execution
• Support daily load planning and scheduling
• Maintain shipment SLAs and shipping performance
• Oversee staging, scanning, and loading processes
• Ensure freight is properly secured, labeled, and handled with care
• Identify and troubleshoot operational issues
• Partner with various teams for smooth handoffs
• Supervise and support customer pickup associates
• Assign and balance labor based on workload and priorities
• Conduct start-of-shift meetings
• Monitor workflow and take corrective action
• Promote and enforce safety policies

Requirements

• Experience in load planning, dock management, or transportation coordination
• Strong understanding of shipment SLAs and performance metrics
• Ability to lead and motivate teams
• Experience with WMS systems, scanners, and shipping documentation
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Flexible work schedule, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends

Qualifications

• Experience in furniture, home goods, or high-value product distribution
• Lean / continuous improvement exposure
• Forklift certification
• Experience managing KPIs such as on-time departure, load accuracy, damage rates, and productivity
