About the role
The assistant store manager will assist the general manager and ownership with operating a profitable store focused on exceptional customer service that exceeds expectations. Responsibilities include managing all aspects of a single store, including hiring, scheduling, and developing a customer-focused team. The role involves overseeing day-to-day operations to achieve sales and profitability goals, customer acquisition, and retention, as well as managing inventory, budgeting, labor costs, and operational expenses. This is a hands-on, led-by-example position.
Responsibilities
- Team Development:
- Identify, recruit, and properly staff the store to ensure customer needs are exceeded while maintaining labor budget goals (total labor goal below 20% of net sales).
- Coach, train, and motivate team members to achieve higher performance and customer interaction.
- Demonstrate high values and service by leading by example on the sales floor.
- Schedule regular meetings with team members to discuss additional training, changing conditions, and current fashion trends.
- Sales and Results Driven:
- Develop and execute strategies to drive customer traffic, purchases, and sales.
- Adhere to company guidelines to balance COGS and minimize potential for loss.
- Maintain a fresh, visually enticing, clean, and well-organized store that exceeds customer expectations and competition.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of current fashion trends for the core customer.
- Proven coaching, leadership, customer service, and selling skills with a take-charge mentality.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and 42-45 hours per week.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated management skills and ability to creatively solve challenges as the team’s go-to resource.
- High level of energy and self-motivation.

Schedule
