Assistant Manager

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our team at Mile Marker One - Waterfront Dining in Gloucester, MA. Located in a beautiful marina setting, we offer a variety of dining options including indoor and outdoor seating, and we are open year-round.

Responsibilities

• Assist the GM in staffing, inventory, and customer service
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• Train and mentor staff to provide exceptional customer service
• Handle customer complaints and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
• Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food preparation and delivery
• Maintain restaurant cleanliness and sanitation standards
• Oversee to-go and delivery orders
• Answer the phone and take reservations
• Open or close the restaurant as needed according to a rotating schedule
• Make shift notes of what occurred during dining service
• Collaborate with the Chef and Hospitality General Manager on social media
• Aid in overseeing hosts, food runners, bussers, and servers
• Aid the General Manager in scheduling suggestions

Requirements

• 2-3 years proven experience as an assistant supervisor, supervisor, manager or assistant manager in the restaurant industry
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work a 50-hour work week, flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Knowledge of restaurant management software and POS systems
• High school diploma or equivalent; degree in hospitality or restaurant management preferred
