Assistant Maintenance Manager

About the Role

The Assistant Maintenance Manager leverages leadership skills and technical knowledge to lead a team of maintenance mechanics, robotics, and controls systems technicians in a fast-paced environment while ensuring a safe working atmosphere. This role models safety standards, trains and supports team members, and develops solutions to complex problems. The position involves managing outside contractors, being on-call for emergencies, and supporting multi-site production in a customer-focused manner.

Demonstrates flexibility to work various shifts and alternative schedules as needed, moving extensively throughout the facility to attend to equipment and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with onsite Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to ensure all safety standards are met.
  • Meet operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including labor tracking.
  • Own scheduling and tracking completion of work orders and tickets.
  • Oversee building cleanliness and ensure accurate inventory tracking.
  • Perform daily and weekly audits for cleanliness and work orders.
  • Implement preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
  • Maintain a client-centric relationship with operational stakeholders.
  • Participate in budget development and tracking.
  • Assist in project planning and cost analysis.
  • Provide thorough feedback to enhance individual performance, including written performance appraisals, discipline, and up to termination.
  • Promote and conduct good housekeeping practices.
  • Travel as required to support network needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior leadership experience.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and alternative work schedules as needed.
  • Experience performing maintenance on industrial machinery, electrical systems, and electronic controls.
  • Must be authorized to work within the hiring country without requiring company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience managing budgets and vendors.
  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) programs.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and electrical schematics.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and walk extensively throughout the facility during shift.
  • Repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Lifting parts and tools weighing on average 20 pounds, occasionally up to 49 pounds.
  • Dexterity in eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual tasks (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation).
  • Working conditions may include elevated heights, small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours, and wet or uneven surfaces.
