Assistant Insulation Technician

Homestead Comfort, a leader in home energy solutions, is seeking a full-time Assistant Insulation Technician in Ellington, CT.

About the role

As an Assistant Insulation Technician, you will improve homes across Connecticut by installing fiber-glass batt insulation, blown-in cellulose, or blown-in fiber-glass insulation. You will air seal homes, install weather stripping, and implement other home efficiency improvements through the HES program. Your day includes climbing ladders, carrying materials, navigating tight spaces like attics and crawl spaces—sometimes in extreme temperatures—and maintaining a quality-focused approach to your craft.

Responsibilities

• Install fiber-glass batt, blown-in cellulose, or blown-in fiber-glass insulation
• Air seal homes and install weather stripping
• Implement home efficiency improvements
• Work independently or as part of a team to tackle challenges
• Climb ladders, carry materials, and navigate tight spaces (attics, crawl spaces)

Requirements

• Valid CT driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
• Good basic math skills
• Skilled craftsmanship, neat work habits, and a quality approach to work
• Ability to carry 50 lbs., climb a 20-foot ladder, and work in attics or crawl spaces
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and good interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification from BPI
• Experience with construction and diagnostic equipment
• Knowledge of air distribution, home performance, and building science
• Interest or experience in energy conservation, duct sealing, and weather stripping
• Ability to assume project responsibility and delegate to helpers

Pay

Competitive pay ranging from $18 - $21 per hour, depending on experience.

Schedule

Full-time, in-person work from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (or until projects are finished for the day), with overtime available as needed. Year-round employment with a steady workweek.
