About the role

The radiology team at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham includes certified specialists who provide advanced imaging services in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities

• Aid technologists in taking radiologic film to assist physicians in diagnosing medical conditions.
• Explain procedures to patients to ensure they understand the process.
• Provide educational materials to patients.
• Transport patients between clinical areas and verify their identity.
• Assist technologists in preparing patients for radiology exams, positioning them correctly.
• Help technologists file, deliver, and retrieve patient reports and charts, ensuring accurate matching of films to folders.
• Deliver reports to patients and physicians.
• Follow radiation safety protocols to prevent unnecessary exposure to radiation.
• Perform post-procedural duties such as patient discharge, room cleaning, and restocking supplies.
• Manage inventory control within the imaging department.

Requirements

• BLS Provider preferred, but American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is acceptable.
• A high school diploma equivalency or 1 year of relevant job-specific experience is required.
